PLEASE READ THIS- it is advice and part of the description of every listing. Read item's description carefully and ask questions if you have any doubts or concerns...
I am seeing many lighters that have been "cleaned" but in truth they have been damaged. either Steel Wool...regardless of fineness or coarseness will scratch anything metal - leaving gouges or worn off designs.
It is the same with sand paper, no matter it's grit unless you get deep into 500,000 - yes 500,000! or finer grit made mostly for jewelers. it's hard to find and expensive.
i use a mixture of Simple Green or a like type cleaner and Murphy's Wood Soap which has a lemon smell and an oil base giving your piece a nice gleam - don't try to over-clean. You will most likely get too deep on paint or wood and mar it. use a slightly damp cloth. SLIGHTLY - wring that cloth out hard!
Use a silver cleaning cloth for the lighter inserts and other metal pieces. Gently - the cloths can be found at any jewelry corner in most retail stores - walmart sells them. Again, not too hard as you could wear off a plated finish.
READ THIS!! THIS PART OF EVERY LISTINGS DESCRIPTION: Lighters that have been fueled recently enough to have any odors cannot be shipped = so that means i have not actually tested them and cannot answer your questions regarding that. i do try to mention in my listings if the lighter mechanism/insert moves smoothly or at all. some are tricky in that you have to pull back and down, just down or even up.
ALL LIGHTERS FOR SALE IN THIS SHOP ARE SOLD AS COLLECTIBLES truly meaning for display and not for use. HOWEVER i don't want an unhappy customer and unless it's been damaged once it arrives at your place - i can tell - i will do returns with THE BUYER PAYING RETURN SHIPPING . YOU WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED THE ACTUAL COST. KEEP the ORIGINAL PACKAGING UNTIL YOU DETERMINE YOUR CHOICE. You are still responsible for your state taxes, if any.
THESE LIGHTERS HAVE BEEN USED TO A CERTAIN EXTENT - and they are OLD! VERY FEW ARE PRISTINE.
